Something Funny Happened on the way to the Breakroom

Today was a crazy frustrating day at work.  I had multiple students who were combative and persistent past the point of ridiculous, which caused me to shriek at my computer screen more than once when the carefully crafted emails I sent them were returned with increasingly less well crafted retorts questioning my IQ.

These types of days are not my favorite, but thankfully, they aren't a common occurrence, that is to say, they limit themselves to roughly once or twice a week, and usually only happen one student at a time, instead of the 3 I had all at the same time today.

Yes, I know.  This is a trivial issue from my day.  I know people in other professions have much more challenging work days than I do, and I commend them for maintaining their sanity (or at least appearing like they have).

I did have a little ray of sunshine today though.

While performing a function of my job that requires verification of documents provided by students, I went to open the aforementioned document, only to find, not the school transcript that was supposed to be attached to the email sent to me, but instead, a recipe for Shrimp Quesadillas.

I had a good laugh about it as I crafted my email response stating that while the Shrimp Quesadillas are most likely delicious, they will not be able to assist in their request, and that I would, in fact, require a copy of their transcript.

Okay, I just read the entire post above, and realized that it doesn't sound like me at all.

Well, it does, but not the "me" that normally writes on here...the wording above is very much "work me", which apparently sounds very different than the "me" writing right now.

So there you go, an insight into what happens while I work, and how I talk when I am there.  Take it for what you will!

Happy New Year, everyone!

Bruce and I rang the new year in like the party animals we are!  As in...I was asleep on the couch by 10:00, and he was on the laptop filling you in on his internship (yay!)

I did wake briefly at midnight to drink something fizzy, and to kiss my studly husband, but I was more than happy to go to bed immediately afterward.

On New Years Day (since I had the day off work) I took all of the Christmas decor down, and put everything back to how it was before the holidays.  And, as it seems to happen every year on January first, I got a hankering to rearrange the living room furniture.

I am not sure why the first day of the new year seems to be furniture moving day, but it always seems to happen.  So Bruce and I flipped our set up around (he's not a huge fan of me wanting to move the furniture all the time, but he was a trooper), and so far, we like it.

Now I just need to get back into "school mode" after taking a break for the holidays...

The last semester

This is Bruce writing the posting for the end of the year. Normally I don't write much on here and I apologize. But there is exciting news to discuss about 2016. Next week, in 2016 I start a paid internship at a local women's health clinic. This is exciting for several reasons. The first being that this will be the last semester of my undergrad. Second, that getting this internship set up has taken months and caused me a lot of stress trying to find one. Having this internship set up has been a huge sigh of relief to me.

What's special is that I'm actually one of the very few HCA students at ISU to receive a paid internship. So to receive that opportunity is something I am very grateful for. I am very lucky to have received the education I have from ISU and I am eager to get to work in my field and apply what I have learned.

Happenings

We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

Bruce and I enjoyed spending this Christmas at home together with our crazy pups.  It was great to spend the whole day together, which is something we don't get to do too often with our work, school, and church obligations

My parents came for a quick visit yesterday, and as were were talking about the aforementioned pups, my mom said that I should put some of their antics on the blog.

We also discussed the fact that Bruce and I were very glad that the dogs hadn't really destroyed many things.  Murphy is definitely the destructive chewer of the two (Cooper chews a lot, but only on approved toys).

That is, they hadn't destroyed much until...today.

Meet Murphy!

He is a beagle mix, and he is super adorable.

At first we were unsure about how he and Cooper would get along, but we soon learned that there was absolutely nothing at all to worry about, and the two pups became fast friends.  They play, nap, and just love spending time together.

Here's to the great balancing act of owning two active puppies!

Gearing Up

We have been experiencing iconic Seattle-type fall weather recently here in Idaho.  It has been gloomy and rainy for the last week or so, and it reminds me of my childhood like no other.  While I have enjoyed the earlier bit of Autumn, where the air is crisp and the leaves are crunchy, there is just something about it being cold and rainy that speaks to me...and makes me want to wrap up in a blanket and stare out the window all day.

We've got some busy times coming up this Autumn, which should be fun.

My baby brother is getting married in two weeks.  Bruce is halfway through the school semester, and I just began my studies for my Master's degree this week!  The holidays are swiftly coming upon us as well, so our little house is terribly busy right now.

But we wouldn't have it any other way.
