Shocking

Bruce and I got a bit of a shock today when we kissed...

No, really...we literally shocked each others lips.

It hurt a little, but made us both laugh.

Never knew that could happen.

Pouring

We had a few bouts of torrential rain today.

I mean torrential.

It was kind of awesome listening to it and the thunder, and even better running through it this afternoon.

Rain is good for the soul.

What is your verdict?

I got my first-ever jury summons the other day.

They must have really pounced on my name change paperwork that I submitted the Monday after the wedding, because that was the only piece of documentation that had been filled out with my married name and current address.

Talk about efficient.

With this aspect of things anyway.

Lemonny Goodness

We used lemons as part of our wedding decor.

They are bright, pretty, inexpensive, and work well in a vase, or just sitting on a table.

Now that the wedding is over though, we have a plethora of lemons left over... like, tons.

After using a few to make lemon bars, it was quickly apparent that I would need to come up with a better solution to utilize the little yellow guys before they went bad and were beyond the point of no return.

So I spent Monday evening zesting and juicing about 50 lemons.  Which, 50 lemons may not seem like a lot, but trust me, it is.  The zest is currently drying out for future use in various recipes, and the juice is in the freezer to serve a similar purpose.

All in all, it took about 2 hours to wash, zest, and juice the buggers, and they repaid me by helping me locate each and every tiny cut I had on my fingers or hands.

So thoughtful of them.

Back to reality

Well folks, Bruce and I are back from our honeymoon.

It was so nice to get away from everything for a week and just spend time together as a couple.

On Monday, we went and saw "How to Train Your Dragon 2".  Super good, we both highly recommend it.

Tuesday, we went to Tautphaus Park.  We played miniature golf and went on the Ferris Wheel before heading over to the zoo to see the animals.  There were some really pretty birds (which the camera on my phone didn't do justice), and a lot of other fun animals as well.

On Wednesday, we took the scenic route to Yellowstone and stopped at Mesa Falls.

It is a very pretty place, and it was nice to get out of the car and walk a bit.  Once we got to Yellowstone, we checked into our hotel and then went to shoot guns!  Bruce shot a gatling gun and a Walther PPX and I shot the Walther and a Baby Eagle.  It was a blast!

Thursday we went into the park and saw all the geysers, hot pools, and went on an impromptu hike.  Seriously, Yellowstone is gorgeous!  I don't see how people can think it's a gross/boring place!  More nature for us, I guess!

My very favorite hot pool was the second from the bottom, it's called Morning Glory, and the photos I took don't even do it justice.

On Friday, we left early in the morning and drove to Montana where we went on a super fun adventure of ziplining and white water rafting.  We actually went on the longest zipline in Montana, and while it was initially slightly terrifying, forcing myself to leap from a ridiculously high platform seemingly into oblivion, it was awesome!  Such a rush!  The white water rafting was also really good.  Bruce and I were positioned up front, so we got the brunt of all the rapids, and it was amazing!

We drove home on Friday, and then on Saturday we ventured down to Lava Hot Springs and floated the river a few times.  And by "floated the river", I mean we careened down falls and over rocks in tubes...and now I'm sporting some lovely bruises.  After the river, we ate lunch and then went to the pool area and went on some water slides before the weather turned around on us and we headed to Pocatello for some billiards and dinner.

Now we're just adjusting back into normal life...work and such...gotta love it!

Wedding day!

In about three hours, Bruce and I are getting hitched!

So excited to spend my life with him!

6.12.2014

To the fullest

Kelly and I got quite a few things done for the wedding today.

Crazy that I'll be married to the love of my life in less than 36 hours!  And while it still doesn't feel real, I am elated to know that he's going to be mine and I'm going to be his.  I am so incredibly and profoundly lucky to have him in my life, he makes me a better person, shows me how to have fun, laughs with me, makes me feel beautiful, and he really is just spectacular, and everything that I could ever want and more.

Yesterday

Yesterday was a busy, but good day.

I woke up at 5:00 like normal and started work

Saw Bruce for a minute when he stopped by on his way to work

Watched SC during the day

Picked up my dress while Bruce watched SC for me for a bit

Kelly arrived!

Went and got my hair and makeup did (yes, the bad grammar is intentional)

Met up at the Temple with Bruce and got our pictures taken

Came home and changed

Went to dinner with Bruce and Kelly

Came home and watched a movie (okay, fine...I slept through most of it, but THEY watched it)

Got my second wind and stayed up talking with Kelly til after 2:00

All in all, a busy, good, good day.

6.10.2014

Priorities

The days are progressively getting busier.

Tomorrow is my last day of work until the wedding, which seems crazy!

It doesn't feel real yet, even though I've been (patiently?...okay, impatiently) waiting for it for 5 1/2 months.

We're basically to the "now or never point" as far as planning things goes...basically whatever is going to happen is going to happen, and we're not too terribly concerned about anything other than being sealed to each other in the Temple, nothing else really matters all that much.

Stupid people

Oh heavens...

So I have lived here in Idaho for more than a year now.  When I first moved here, I was often worried that I might run into my ex, and would slightly freak out whenever I saw a car of the same make and model as his, but thankfully, I never had the misfortune of bumping into him.

So today when I went to the grocery store, and snuck into an elusive parking spot before another car could, I happened to notice it was the same make and model as the ex's...but then, I also happened to notice that the person driving said car looked an awful lot like the ex (cue stomach drop...).

My fear/disgust/annoyance (insert negative emotion of choice here...) was confirmed when I was walking up to the check stand and did indeed verify that the ex and one of his sons were checking out themselves.

Not something I wanted from this (til this point) perfectly lovely Monday, but I survived...though I did do a bit of Orange Juice binge drinking when I got home.

Wardies

Today was Bruce's and my final Sunday in our singles ward.

Kinda weird to think that I'm officially done with the whole LDS singles scene.  Weird, but totally and completely awesome, that is!

Here's to our final week of singledom!

Just keep swimming

We finally made it to the pool!

After a couple failed attempts at going swimming in the last few weeks, we finally succeeded in our efforts and found an open piscine (that's French for "pool"...because I'm snooty like that).

It was nice to be in the water, even though it wasn't the warmest thing in the world.

I haven't been swimming in a very long time, but it took me back to all the time Jess, Heidi, and I spent at the Si View pool; swimming laps, doing somersaults, handstands, retrieving diving rings, and just getting up to some good-natured shenanigans.

6.06.2014

Wait for it...

Pretty sure I'm a major procrastinator...

In my defense, I usually get everything I need to taken care of!

Sometimes I just need the pressure of a looming deadline... like, say, a due date for a paper, or a work presentation that's due in 4 hours, or, who knows, a wedding, maybe...

Yeah.

I keep seeing things I need to get done, and I keep telling myself, "Oh, yeah, I've got time to do that next week", except that the wedding is next week, and my week is largely booked.  Clearly didn't think that one through.

Oh well, que sera sera.

6.05.2014

Single Digits

9 Days to go!

Bruce and I got some wedding stuff taken care of today (shocking, I know...) and we were also able to take it easy in a hammock for a little while.

I've decided I want/need a hammock...for my sanity...and relaxation...and for the good of humanity.

6.04.2014

Happies

I got quite a bit of Bruce-time today

There are less than 9 1/2 days until the wedding

I only have 5 more days of work until the wedding

My final dress fitting is on Saturday

I have 2 shindigs to go to this weekend, which should be fun and a nice distraction

I finally heard from the gal who will be doing my hair for the wedding (one less thing to think about)

Kelly will be here in a week

My Alaskan sister-in-law will be here on Sunday

I finally got around to sweeping my kitchen floor (first time since I moved...still need to vacuum)

SC has been super good, especially considering the fact that he's teething

The week is almost over

I get to go to bed and sleep!

6.03.2014

I love the bugger, but...

Kids wear you out.

I know this is not news to you, it isn't even news to me, but I am worn OUT today.

I'm looking forward to our honeymoon, when I won't have any external responsibilities, and I can just relax with my husband, kid-free.

6.02.2014

Seesaws

Yesterday was full of various highs and lows.

Highs:

Bruce had his final recommend interview for the wedding (yay!...Now we just need to get the marriage license...which we're doing today)
Family dinner
Baking
Late-night conversations with my love

Lows:

Hurt feelings and miscommunications (which are unfortunately entirely my fault)
Dealing with people I dislike and being confronted by them
Feelings of utter frustration

Thankfully, the highs out-weigh the lows, but I still have yet to completely deal with the lows...so we'll see what happens.

For Kicks

Guess what, kids!

It's June!

Seriously, it is!  You can trust me...promise...

June is finally (finally) here.

Less than 2 weeks, and Bruce and I will be married.

People keep asking us if we're excited.  Which, let's be honest, is frankly the silliest question you can ask an engaged couple... of COURSE we're excited!  We're getting married!  We've been engaged for 5 months!  Wouldn't YOU be excited?

Silly rabbit...
