Today

Today I went grocery shopping.

Twice. (Because I forget things)

Saw adorable (super adorable) puppies.

Played video games.

Made dinner.

Napped.

Took a walk with my love.

And saw the movie Non-Stop (also with my love).

Not a terribly busy day, but nice.

Time Warp

Last night, Bruce and I went to the drive-in to see "Maleficent".

When we arrived at the theater, there was already a queue of cars waiting for the moment they would be allowed entrance, so we lined up behind them and waited.

Bruce downloaded 2 Rayman games to his PS Vita (a handheld playstation device thingy...like a gameboy...but newer...and I'm just making myself sound like an idiot, aren't I?...anyway...) and let me play it while we waited.

I haven't played that game in years.  YEARS!  And while I died many times...many, many times... I had fun with it, and can see myself absconding with the contraption in the future so I can play again.

As for the movie, it was really good!

I have never really been a fan of Angelina Jolie (which, is kinda funny when you consider I've only ever seen her in 1 1/2 things...ever), but she was amazing in this movie.  I recommend that you, your closest friend, and your favorite grocery clerk go see this flick.

Just do it.

Initial dress fitting?

Hair dyed?  Again...

Kitchen cleaned?

Scrubs marathon?
In progress...

Keys

I turned in my keys for my old apartment yesterday, meaning I have officially washed my hands of that place!

I will admit it is nice only being responsible for one domicile now instead of two.

Yay for that!

Cutting it close

Whelp...the dress fiasco has been rectified.

Finally.

I am renting a dress for the wedding, and I picked it out today, will have my alterations session on Thursday, and then I should be good to go for the wedding.

I should have just gone this route from the get-go.

Guess that's what I get for trying to do things the way I wanted to.

I now bow to the wedding gods and just let them take over.

5.26.2014

Vermilion

I spent a fair bit of time outside in the gorgeous weather today.

I got a tiny bit of sun while I was reading in the park this afternoon, but nothing terribly noteworthy.

Bruce and I then grilled up some chicken outside on his grill for dinner, and afterward, we made a run to Target, where Bruce noticed that my skin was distinctly...crimson.

Yeah... in the time that we spent outside grilling, the little bit of sun I had gotten earlier in the day decided to thrust me into lobster-dom.

Thankfully it doesn't hurt (yet, anyway), but my chest, forehead and arms are decidedly red.

Pretty sure something similar happened to me about this time last year too...

You'd think I'd learn.

5.25.2014

Chillax

Yay for lazy Sundays with my love.

Today was our first official Sunday being in the same ward, we actually walked to church together this morning, which I kinda loved.

After church we came home, looked through recipes, made cookies, had home teachers over, and now we're just hanging out before dinner.

I love being with Bruce even if we're not really doing anything.

5.24.2014

Heat wave

It has been hot as blazes recently.
Basically I feel like I've been melting...so Bruce and I tried to go to the local pool for public swim...
Suits?
Check
Towels?
Check
Pool open for business?
Not so much...
Oh well, we'll just continue to melt over here.

Spiffy

Can I just say that I love living in my new place?

Sure there is less kitchen storage space, and the pipes are always making noises, and you can hear the traffic going by, and there are often noisy kids in the parking lot, BUT I love having a dishwasher, I love living literally across the parking lot from Bruce, we can walk across the street to the movie theater and a myriad of stores, I'm not "out there" by my lonesome, I have heating and air conditioning, I have tons of windows so it's always bright inside, I have vaulted ceilings in the living room, I have a patio, HUGE closets!

Really... it's kinda great!

5.22.2014

Give us a quiche...

I made a Cheese & Tomato Quiche for dinner last night.

THIS Cheese & Tomato Quiche to be exact...

I thought it was tasty.

So much so, that I ate it for breakfast today.

And for lunch.

Aaaaand for dinner again.

What?  It was good!  And quiche basically works for any meal!

5.21.2014

23 days & change

Bruce came over today and ran some errands with me.

He then proceeded to put together our new TV stand, which looks awesome, by the by.

Yep.

He's a keeper.

5.20.2014

Back in the saddle

I finally went to the grocery store today.

Pretty sure it's been about a month (if not a little more) since I did a real, honest-to-goodness grocery shopping trip...and by "honest-to-goodness", I mean to purchase more than 1 or 2 items, neither of which require cooking for consumption.

I also put together 10 freezer meals, and made enchiladas for dinner.

If you can't tell, I am glad to have a kitchen back.  Even one where I haven't quite gotten things how I want them.

Though I must say that the highlight of my cooking endeavors this evening would probably be creating a makeshift corkscrew out of a screw and a hammer.  Resources!

5.19.2014

A little bit of luck

I am supremely lucky that I get to marry my best friend, a man who makes me laugh on a daily basis, and who I just can't get enough of, in 25 days.

Yep.

Supremely lucky indeed.

5.18.2014

Ouch!

Have you ever had a blood clot?

I got one in my finger today, and I can honestly say it was one of the most painful things ever. Well, maybe not ever, but it was pretty dang awful.

Here's hoping they don't become a regular occurrence!

Done and done

I have officially moved.

My old place is empty.

Well, except for cleaning supplies and other random crap I'll take care of when I go clean the place out thoroughly anyway.

I had many awesome helpers, and wouldn't have been able to do it without them.

It was probably one of my least stressful moving days on record...nothing like the move of 2009...that one was a dilly.

It's super nice to have it all done...except for the unpacking that is.

We'll see how long that part takes me.

5.16.2014

Hi-yah!

I signed my lease and moved a few things in today.

I must admit, it feels super good to have this all underway, and I am super jazzed about my new digs (soon to be OUR new digs).

Here's hoping the weather cooperates for the big move tomorrow...it's rainy and windy now...not the best conditions to subject your friends to whilst they help you move.

Amen

Holy Moley!

I sign my new lease tomorrow!

Super Duper excited to be done with this moving mess.  There aren't many things in life that stress me out as much as moving (though some top contenders might be wedding planning and school...which ironically I have also been doing).

The sea of boxes will soon be a distant memory.

In other news, I got to see Bruce today, and I also get to see that super sexy fiance of mine each day for the next 3 days at least.  Can I get a "hallelujah"?

Thanks...

5.14.2014

Mind the Gap

I was irrational and emotional today.

Two of my least favorite things to be.

Luckily, Kelly was only a phone call away, and she got my head back on straight.

In other news, we are officially one month away from the wedding!  Yay!

So ready for time to speed up and close the gap!

5.13.2014

Square One

We mailed off our wedding invitations today.  They are out of my hands!  On their way!  This is real!

My dress also came today, however...it is too short, and a weird color and fabric.  So I won't be wearing it at my wedding.  Which is disappointing, but not earth-shattering.  Mainly just annoying.

It's probably a blessing that I am too consumed with the prospect of moving this week to really let it bug me too much.

5.12.2014

Postage

I feel like I've made some good progress on both packing and on the wedding invitations.

I have 99.5% of the kitchen stuff packed, 90% of the spare room packed, basically just clothes, bedding, and daily essentials left in my bedroom, and my work stuff left in my office.  Progress!

All of our wedding invitations have been addressed as well!

Not bad for a Monday.

5.11.2014

Moms

Happy Mother's Day to my mom, Bruce's mom, and basically all the moms that have influenced my life.

I know that someday I will join the "mom club", but for now, I'll continue to be a happy bystander and be glad that I have some great women to look up to.

A Day Of Adventure

Saturday was full of adventure. Sleeping in was amongst the first. Once we were ready for the day Me and Lisa went kite flying. Yes that's right kite flying. You have every right to be jealous if you feel so inclined. I honestly felt like Lisa was better than me at it. She flew a Yoda kite and I a Batman kite. Mine at one point flew away into someone's yard. But no worries. It is mine once again.

After kite flying we went to the museum to see the new exhibit for the race to the end of the earth. It details the race to the south pole between the English and Norwegian teams. To be honest, the permanent exhibit about IF was more interesting to me.

By the end of that we took it easy for the day. I'm very happy though to have fun with my fiancee enjoying the simpler things in life, like kite flying.

5.09.2014

Handwriting

Bruce and I got our wedding invitations today.

We've addressed a decent chunk of them, but still have a bit to do.

And then all we have to do is mail the suckers out!

Lots of yay!

5.08.2014

The cat's pajamas

On days like today where I don't see Bruce, I am glad that I have a smart phone that allows me to download our engagement photos to it.

Because seeing his face, even on my phone, makes me incredibly happy.

Packing

I notice that each time I pack to move, I tend to put the same movies on in the background for noise.

Always chick flicks, because I don't have to actually pay attention to them 100%, and I can still get the gist and enjoy them a bit.

5.07.2014

Birthday wishes

It's Kelly's birthday today!
My partner in crime is 30 today. It's crazy that we have known each other a relatively short time, and yet we know each other better than anyone else.
Here's to her and all the adventures she'll have in the years to come!

5.06.2014

Boxen

It's that time again.

The time when my apartment walls are bare and ugly, boxes are accumulating along one of the walls, and it basically looks like I live like a slob.

It's highly exciting.

Let me clarify...

The idea of being moved into the new place and getting settled is exciting.

Packing and actually moving is not so exciting.

T-minus 11 days and counting!

5.05.2014

Cinco de Mayo

I have a tradition (shocking...I know).

Every Cinco de Mayo for the last...oh, about 7 years, I sit myself down and watch "The Three Amigos".  Sometimes I eat Mexican food as well, but the consistent feature of May 5th for me is the comical stylings of Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short.

Gotta love it, it's a delightful way to end the day.

5.04.2014

Destiny...

May the Fourth be with you!

That's right folks, it's Star Wars Day!

And that, my friends, is something we take seriously in these parts.

Bruce and I started our day by playing some Lego Star Wars (a video game...for those who don't know), then we went to church (I accompanied him to his ward...which will also be my ward in a couple short weeks), then went back to his place...where I took a nap.  Then we played more Lego Star Wars, went to family dinner, then came back and watched "The Empire Strikes Back", which is Bruce's favorite from the original trilogy, and I fell asleep...again...this falling asleep at the drop of a hat thing seems to be becoming a trend with me.

All in all it was a good day, even though I felt like I was in a sleepy fog half the time.  You'd think with all the naps I've been taking for the past few months, I would feel more rested, but that is clearly not the case.

Oh well.

Thankfully Bruce isn't offended when I fall asleep when we're together.

Though that might be because it is familiar territory for him.

5.03.2014

Pachyderms

SC loves the movie Dumbo.
As a result, I often put it on for him while I'm trying to get work done during the day.
I basically know the movie by heart, and find myself lip syncing to it from my office as it plays in the living room.
And I keep getting the songs stuck in my head...I woke up with a couple running through my head this morning, and they're still frolicking in there...super fun.

Chat log

Kelly is here!

We spent the evening in delightful revelry. She, Bruce, and I went to dinner, then came back for rice krispie cake at my place.

After Bruce left, Kelly and I chatted for a good while about a myriad of subjects, until it was decided we needed to hit the hay.

I enjoy our late night chats when we get to have them. Reminds me of our hallway talks from long ago.

5.01.2014

It's a good day

I officially am done apartment hunting.

Yay!

I'll be moving into the same complex that Bruce currently lives in.  Which basically means that once we get hitched, he'll be moving across the parking lot.

I am happy to be done with the search.
Glad it's a good place.
Thrilled it has a dishwasher.
Pleased that it has 3 bedrooms.
Super stoked that until we get married, I'll only be a hop, skip, and a jump away from Bruce instead of a 15 minute drive.

Basically today is a great, great day!

P.S. My ring is also here...

P.P.S. I am super excited about that too!
